I used to think, "How can I protect all those weaker than myself? I'm just a little kid! Give me a break." It was a heavy responsibility to have to think and say and do all those pure and beautiful things, knowing that everyone’s happiness depended on it.

I visualized my mother and father and Baachan and Jiichan and all my aunties and uncles lined up in a row looking at me with sad, serious eyes because I had failed to keep my link bright and strong. They weren't even angry, just disappointed, which made it even worse.

....May every link in Amida’s golden chain of love become bright and strong, and may we all attain perfect peace.
